Lauren Havill Tabbed Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College Vice President for Athletics and Club Sports Craig McPhail has named Lauren Havill as the next head women's volleyball coach on Tuesday morning. Havill joins the Bobcats after serving as head men's and women's volleyball coach at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia.

Havill was appointed head men's volleyball at Alderson Broaddus in January 2023 and led the Battlers to 11 wins in her first season. Havill and the men's volleyball program also achieved their first Independent Volleyball Association tournament win since 2017. Havill was also named head women's volleyball team shortly after her arrival in Philippi and signed nine total student-athletes in five months after joining Alderson Broaddus.

"I am honored to be a part of the Lees-McRae community and athletic department," said Havill. "I am fully committed and excited to lead this program. "I look forward to working with the team as we work to create a winning culture, both on and off the court."

Prior to Alderson Broaddus, Havill was the assistant women's volleyball and recruiting coordinator at Glenville State University in Glenville, West Virginia where she developed a comprehensive recruiting database system, collected statistical data and scouting reports of opponents.

Havill was the interim sports information director at Glenville State from January 2022 to May 2022 where she was recognized as one of the 2022 College Sports Communicators National Champion Sports Information Directors after propelling Pioneer Athletics into national relevancy over all social media platforms.

"We are thankful to Paul Johnson of Executive Athletic Services for running this search for us and identifying Lauren as our next leader of our women's volleyball program," said McPhail. "His ability to target someone with head coaching experience and recruiting skills at the NCAA D2 level gives us the best candidate to bring back our storied women's volleyball tradition."

Havill played two years at Northern Vermont University - Johnson where she ranks seventh in program history in single-season kills and was named the Most Outstanding Female Student-Athlete in 2020. After her graduation, Havill was hired as an assistant women's volleyball coach and recruiting coordinator at Utica University in Utica, New York.

Havill graduated from Northern Vermont University - Johnson in 2020 with a Bachelor's degree in business administration and holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Salem University.
