The Benedictine University Mesa athletics department is pleased to announce Joe Silva as the new head baseball coach.

Head Coach Joe Silva comes to Benedictine Mesa from Benedictine Lisle where he has been an assistant coach since 2019. Prior to Lisle, Silva was a graduate assistant at North Park University in Chicago.

While Silva was at Benedictine–Lisle, the Eagles had an overall record of 112 – 58; as they qualified for the league post-season tournament every year. During this time Silva worked primarily with the hitters & outfielders, seeing the hitters have a .300+ batting average and a .400+ on base percentage over the course of his time in Lisle. He was the prime contact to oversee the student athletes' academics for the baseball team, with a team GPA above 3.3 in all seasons.

Silva has coached the development of high skill level thriving players, with multiple All-Conference selections every year; along with 12 Mid-West Regional players and 4 All-American Selections and 2 Conference Freshman of the year (2022, 2023).Â

Silva was also head coach for the Joliet Generals – Northern Collegiate League in the summer for 2 seasons (2021-22). The team won a championship in 2021; and Silva was named Manager of The Year.

Prior to coaching, Silva had a noted playing career at Concordia–Chicago. He was named to the National All-Decade Team (2010-2019) by D3 Baseball. He was also Player of The Year in the NACC Conference in 2016 and 2018. Silva's teams were very successful with 4 Regional appearances and 2 World Series trips. Silva is the All-Time leader at Concordia–Chicago in Games Played with 193 and is in the Top 3 of most offensive categories.
