Aaron Campbell Resigns as Pioneers Track & Field Coach

Campbell was on the Pioneers track & field staff for the past seven years

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark men's and women's track & field coach Aaron Campbell announced his resignation in late December. Campbell is leaving the coaching field to take a position as the Associate Director of Advising at Clark College in Vancouver Washington.

"We are sad to see Aaron go and will miss him deeply," Director of Athletics Mark Pietrok said. "He has a been a fantastic member of our department for the past four years and has done an excellent job leading our men's and women's track & field programs. Aaron has not only served as a leader for two of our programs but he has stepped up to take on a leadership role in some of our key initiatives within the department. We wish him all the best and while he won't be on campus, he will still be a member of the Lewis & Clark family."

Campbell returned to Oregon in 2016 to serve as an assistant coach with the Pioneers track & field program. He was elevated to interim head men's and women's head coach in the spring of 2019 and named the head coach of the program in June of 2019.

In the three seasons he served as head coach where the Northwest Conference hosted a Championship Meet, Campbell worked with 18 student-athletes who earned All-Conference honors and three event champions. Last April, freshmen Riley Buese (5K and 10K) and Cameryn Nagaji (triple jump) each won events on the women's side and the women's team posted their most points (57) and best finish (t-5th) since the 2013 season.

Head men's and women's cross country head coach Matthew Barreau will serve as the interim head coach for the track & field programs. The Pioneers will carry out a national search to fill the position at the end of the season.
