Krabbenhoft Family Videoboard Set for Unveiling in Taylor Center

9/14/2023 10:53:00 AM

MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State Athletics will officially unveil a new $795,000 Daktronics centerhung videoboard inside Taylor Center's Bresnan Arena this Saturday when the Mavericks host Winona State in women's volleyball at 2 p.m.

The videoboard was made possible in part by a $400,000 lead gift pledge from Kelby Krabbenhoft, a Mankato native and 1983 MBA graduate of the University. Taylor Center, which opened in the fall of 2000, serves as the home for Maverick men's and women's basketball, wrestling and volleyball.

In partnership with AVI Systems, a $253,000 Bose ArenaMatch Loudspeaker system integration will replace the arena's existing sound system and rounds out the nearly $1.25 million project that was recently completed with an installation that spanned about a 10-week period this summer.

"We are grateful about the investment that has been made to elevate the gameday experience for our fans, student-athletes and coaches, said Kevin Buisman, Director of Athletics. "These improvements will transform the Taylor Center into a premier destination for sporting events, commencement ceremonies, and gatherings of all kinds.  Kudos to the project management team and vendors for completing this installation on time and on budget.  We can't wait to share these stunning enhancements with everyone on Saturday."

About the vendors:

Daktronics:
For a new visual experience inside the Taylor Center, Minnesota State selected Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota, to design, manufacture and install a new four-side centerhung video display system.
Key Features
  • The four-sided centerhung is comprised of four equal-sized displays, each measuring more than eight feet high by nearly 15 feet wide. Each display features 3.9-millimeter pixel spacing to deliver crisp, clear imagery and video content to fans in every seating section of the arena.
  • The displays are capable of variable content zoning. This feature allows each display to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

AVI Sytems:
AVI Systems is a leading provider of cutting-edge audiovisual solutions and designed a solution aimed to enhance the audio experience at the Taylor Center.
Key Features
  • Precise Sound Coverage: Highly precise sound dispersion, ensuring that every seat enjoys optimal audio quality.
  • Exceptional durability and reliability for the rigors of continuous use and active events.
  • Seamless Integration: The integration process seamlessly incorporated the Bose technology into the existing audiovisual infrastructure, minimizing downtime and disruption.

Maverick fans can catch their first glimpse of the new video board and sound system on Saturday when arena doors open at 1 p.m. before the 2 p.m. volleyball match versus Winona State. A formal dedication that will include a donor recognition event for the Krabbenhoft Family Video Board will be announced at later date.
