NC State radio broadcaster Gary Hahn, suspended after making comments about "illegal aliens" during the Wolfpack's football bowl game, will return to team broadcasts on Jan. 14.

NC State's men's basketball team hosts No. 12 Miami on Jan. 14 at noon. Tammy Purves, Learfield's vice president of communications, confirmed the end of the suspension in an email to WRAL News on Wednesday.

Learfield produces games for the Wolfpack Sports Network and employs Hahn, who has called NC State games for more than 30 years. He was suspended indefinitely after his comments during the Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte on Dec. 30.

NC State lost to Maryland 16-12. While giving a score update of the UCLA-Pittsburgh game in the Sun Bowl in Texas, Hahn said, "And amongst all the illegal aliens down in El Paso, it's UCLA ... "

The suspension will end up being two weeks. Hahn will miss NC State's men's basketball games against Duke (Jan. 4) and at Virginia Tech (Jan. 7). WRAL 101.5 FM is an affiliate in the Wolfpack Sports Network and airs NC State games.

The Sun Bowl's Fan Fiesta was canceled because the El Paso convention center was being used "to house some of these poor migrants that are looking for shelter somewhere," the Sun Bowl Association's executive director said, according to KTSM.

Hahn did not immediately respond to an email from WRAL News on Wednesday. He has not made any public comments since the suspension was announced.
