Josh Roosa Named Men's Wrestling Coach at Misericordia

Josh Roosa has been named the head men's wrestling coach at Misericordia University, Chuck Edkins, director of athletics, has announced.

"It is my pleasure to welcome Josh to Misericordia University as our first head coach of men's wrestling," said Edkins.  "He has a proven track record of recruiting outstanding student-athletes and that experience will prove beneficial as he builds the program at MU."

A Crestwood High School and Bloomsburg University graduate, Roosa spent the last three seasons as the head coach at King's College.

Previously, he spent five years as an assistant at D-I Appalachian State, including four seasons as head assistant coach.

Roosa is excited about the opportunity to build a winning program at Misericordia.  "From the moment I stepped on campus, I knew Misericordia University was serious about winning at a high level and providing its student-athletes a world class educational experience," said Roosa.  Those are the things I am passionate about. I would like to thank Chuck Edkins and the rest of the search committee for the opportunity to build and lead the men's wrestling program. I also want to thank Misericordia University for their commitment to the sport of wrestling."

Roosa coached eight National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American at King's while more than tripling the roster size during his tenure.  He coached the Monarchs' first NCAA qualifier since 2013 during the 2021-22 season and guided a school-record five NCAA Southeast Regional place-winners in 2022-23.

At Appalachian State, he helped the team to four straight Southern Conference Championships and two Southern Conference tournament championships along with 12 individual Southern Conference champions and 22 NCAA Championships individual qualifiers.

Roosa was a 5-year scholarship wrestler at Bloomsburg and was an NCAA qualifier at 149 pounds.

Misericordia will begin competition in the MAC in the 2024-25 season.
