Griffith Steps Down as Head Coach

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Webster University Director of Athletics, Scott Kilgallon, has announced the resignation of Katie Griffith effective August 4th.

Griffith came to Webster in 2019 and spent the past five seasons as the head coach of the softball team. In her five seasons with the team, the Gorloks had an overall record of 78-80 while posting a 41-25 overall mark in the SLIAC. She was named the SLIAC Softball Coach of the Year in both 2021 and 2022 while leading her team to a SLIAC Tournament Title and an NCAA National Tournament appearance in 2021.

Throughout her time at Webster, Griffith coached 28 All-SLIAC selections, two SLIAC Newcomers of the Year, one SLIAC Player of the Year, and one SLIAC Pitcher of the Year. Her team finished in the top 25 in all of Division III for grade point average in each of the last two seasons including finishing 20th in 2021 with a team GPA of 3.71. In addition, she has coached five all-region honorees, eight CSC Academic All-District recipients, one CSC Academic All-America, and 40 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes.

"I have accepted Coach Griffith's resignation and want to wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors," said Kilgallon.

Webster University will begin a national search to fill the position immediately.
