MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Barry University women's golf coach John Koskinen has resigned to take another head coaching position, Director of Athletics Dr. Scott Smith announced today.
Koskinen led the Buccaneer women to their 19th NCAA Tournament bid in 2023. They finished ninth out of 12 teams. Four Bucs, Eve Marie Sapin, Sydney Grimes, Giuliana Gomez and Maria Cowan, placed on the WGCA All-American Scholar list. They were joined by four other teammates on the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Koskinen graduated from Michigan State University in 2003, excelling both athletically and academically. The kinesiology major was a two-time Academic All-American as well as a member of the All-Big Ten and All-Midwest Region first teams.
As associate coach at Miami, Koskinen helped lead the 'Canes to the national tournament in the 2015-16 season for the first time since 1992. The Hurricanes also qualified for the NCAA Regional Tournament for 12 straight years, with six players earning spots on the WGCA All-America team. Twenty-three of his players earned spots on the WGCA Scholar All-America lists as well as eight 1st Team ACC selections.
Barry will begin an immediate search for his replacement.
