MOORHEAD, Minn. – MSU Moorhead Athletic Director Chad Markuson has announced the addition of Pam Gohl to the Dragon athletic administration staff. Gohl will serve as MSUM's Deputy Athletic Director.

"I am thrilled to be a Dragon. MSU Moorhead has a wonderful tradition in NCAA Division II and the NSIC. It's an exciting time on campus with President Downs ushering in a new era and I look forward to working with and learning from MSU Moorhead's Athletic Director Chad Markuson and the entire athletic administration," said Gohl. "The department has outstanding coaches and student-athletes, and I cannot wait to get on campus to work with them. MSU Moorhead has a real community feel on their campus and I am eager to be a part of it. Go Dragons!"

Gohl joins the MSUM staff following an 11-year stint at the University of Sioux Falls where she has been the Director of Athletics for the past six years. In her time at Sioux Falls, she has served as the Interim Athletic Director on two separate occasions before being named to the role permanently in 2018. Gohl was initially hired as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman's Administrator in 2012.

"I am so happy for the future of Dragon athletics. Pam brings to the department a diverse range of experiences and strengths. Having been both a coach and an Athletic Director in the NSIC will allow her to hit the ground running when she arrives at Nemzek," said Markuson. "The next chapter of Dragon athletics and Minnesota State University Moorhead has begun with the arrival of President Downs and adding Pam Gohl to the Dragon Family at this key time will play a pivotal role in our growth. With Pam's help, our hope is to continue to build and ascend as a department and university."

In her Director of Athletics role, Gohl provided direction and guidance to an athletics department that sponsored 19 programs. She led the department in fundraising, budgeting, strategic planning and more in her time on campus. Gohl also was a key advisory piece to USF coaches, student-athletes and USF President Brett Bradfield. She was also a vitall service member on campus, serving on committees pertaining to NCAA Division II compliance, Title IX, SAAC and more.

Prior to her work in athletic administration, Gohl had a thrilling basketball coaching career beginning in 1999. She began as a graduate assistant coach at St. Cloud State until 2001, where she moved into an assistant coaching role at Fort Hays State for two seasons. Following her stint with the Tigers, Gohl took on the head coaching position at Briar Cliff University until 2006. Gohl then made her way back into NSIC territory, becoming an assistant coach for Minnesota State in 2006 before being promoted to head coach in 2008.

During her tenure as head coach of the Mavericks, Gohl helped guide the program to its first NCAA Division II national championship in 2008-09. It was the first (and to date only) national championship victory by an NSIC women's basketball program in conference history. The Mavericks went 32-2 in 2008-09 and had a streak of 17 consecutive victories during the year. Gohl was named the NSIC's Coach of the Year for her efforts along the sidelines.

Gohl graduated from Augustana in 1999 with a degree in physical education, also playing on the Viking basketball team under legendary head coach Dave Krauth. In 2001, Gohl earned her Masters degree in sports management from St. Cloud State. Gohl is married to her husband Eric and the couple has two children, Carson and Cate.
