CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Director of Athletics Cherie Swarthout is pleased to announce the promotion of Randall Goble to Deputy Athletic Director on Thursday afternoon. Goble has served as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for the Royals since 2019 and has been in the Queen City since 2013.
"As the Director of Athletics, I have been honored to be surrounded by leaders who have a growth mindset," commented Swarthout. "Randall has been a leader not only at Queens since the opening of the Levine Center, but at Berry and at Kennesaw State as well and all of his roles have been in facility management. His next area of growth will be as my deputy AD and helping others thrive in facility management. Randall will now help develop some of our coaches through sport oversight and continue to leverage his robust experience as we continue to our transition into Division 1, representing the ASUN Conference."
Goble joined Queens Athletics in July of 2013 as the Assistant Director for Facilities and Events Management. In addition to overseeing the Royals athletic facilities, Goble was the head of the events management department which spans across the Levine Center, Queens Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park, and Richard "Stick" Williams Dream Fields.
In addition to serving as a point contact for Queens Athletics, Goble served as the tournament director at four South Atlantic Conference Men's and Women's Lacrosse Championships, two NCAA D2 Men's Basketball Southeast Regional Championships, and the 2013 NCAA D2 Men's and Women's Cross-Country Southeast Regional Championships. Goble has helped coordinate and facilitate the Under Armour All-America Camp and Jay Bilas Camp which are hosted in the Levine Center.
Goble joined the Royals staff immediately prior to the opening of the Levine Center, which was Queens' third athletic facility at the time. The multi-purpose facility is a premier facility in the region housing three multi-use courts and plays home to Queens basketball, volleyball, and wrestling. This past summer, Queens Athletics debuted a new court as a part of the Royals university-wide rebrand.
"I would like to thank President Lugo, Athletic Director Cherie Swarthout, and the University's entire leadership team for this incredible opportunity and for their continued trust and vision in me," said Goble. "I am honored to serve our student-athletes, coaches, and University in such a capacity and I am excited for the future of our department."
Goble provides over 30 years of collegiate athletic experience having worked at Berry College and Kennesaw State University prior to joining the Royals. He holds a master's degree from the University of Alabama and received his bachelor's degree from Berry.
