Luther's Larson named to NCAA Management Council

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Luther College professor and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Rob Larson was selected to join the NCAA Management Council earlier this month. Larson will join the committee after the NCAA Convention in January 2023 and will serve a four year term helping govern the largest division in the NCAA.

"Being a member of the NCAA DIII Management Council is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the process of dealing with the issues and opportunities associated with intercollegiate athletics," said Larson. "It is a dynamic and challenging time for the NCAA, and I look forward to participating in the planning and management of Division III athletics."

Since joining the college in 2003, Larson has held a variety of roles within athletics and has served as Luther's FAR since 2006. A professor of management, Larson served on both the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C)/Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Finance Committee and Strategic Planning Task Force and was a member of the DIII Membership Committee from 2015 to 2019. In addition to his FAR duties, Larson currently serves as the Norse men's basketball official scorer, a role he has held since the 2005-06 season.

"This is quite an honor and responsibility to be on the NCAA Division III Management Council," commented Luther Athletic Director Renae Hartl. "We are excited that Rob will be serving the NCAA, the American Rivers Conference, and Luther College in this important role. He will assist his colleagues to navigate the changing climate with the transformational committee and new constitution the NCAA will be leading its 1100 members  on in 2023."

The NCAA Management Council is responsible for the adaptation and implementation of policies approved by the organization's Board of Governors and the Division III Presidents Council. In addition to reporting directly to the Presidents Council, the Management Council may support and sponsor legislative proposals, make interpretations of Division III bylaws, help resolve issues within the division, and handle any recommendations from other committees and working groups within Division III's substructure.
