Glenville State reprimanded by DII Wrestling Committee

Student-athlete did not take part in awards ceremony

The Division II Wrestling Committee issued a public reprimand to Glenville State after team member Jared Campbell did not attend the awards ceremony at the conclusion of the Division II Wrestling Championships in March.

Campbell, a heavyweight, was the national runner-up in his weight class, and committee members were disappointed he did not adhere to championships procedures outlined in the code of conduct.

Penalties include:

  • Withholding/remittance of three days of per diem for Glenville State's participation in the championships for Campbell ($115 per day, for a total of $345).
  • A public reprimand for the school.

"The ceremony is of great importance to honor the eight place winners for each weight class and to provide them with a lasting photo of the All-Americans at their weight," said Cy Wainwright, committee chair and assistant to the athletics director at Newberry.
