GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) Intercollegiate Athletics announces that the Spartan Club set a record for philanthropic support during the 2022-23 fiscal year.
"We are thrilled for the year we had," remarked Mike Roach, Executive Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. "We are incredibly grateful to alumni and friends for their generous support of our 17 athletic programs. These gifts will positively impact our student-athletes in the near term and for years to come."
The Spartan Club has reached new heights in the following areas of giving:
- $5,518,875 raised in overall cash and gifts-in-kind; a 414-percent increase over 2021-22; breaks the record of $1,877,898 set in 2020-21
- $482,028 raised for the Athletic Scholarship Fund; a 55-percent increase from the 2021-22 year and the most raised since the 2018-19 year
Athletic Scholarships and Operations Initiatives
This bold initiative seeks to raise $5 million over the next five years to further support scholarship needs and operations for our 17 varsity sports. In fiscal year 2023, our generous supporters made $2 million in commitments toward this initiative.
