PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – Executive Director of Athletics & Recreation, Dan Kane, is pleased to announce the hiring of Kaitlin Thibodeau-Corey as the University of Maine at Presque Isle's Head Softball Coach.

Kane said, "We are excited to welcome Coach Thibodeau-Corey to our UMPI family. She has all the qualities we look for in a coach that puts the focus on our student athletes, providing a well rounded student athlete experience for our UMPI Owls. Her experience as a student athlete and her willingness and ability to step up in different roles when needed at Keystone makes her a perfect fit for our department."

Thibodeau-Corey is a former Division III softball player at Mitchell College in Connecticut, where she played for four years. While at Mitchell, Thibodeau-Corey was a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, a student representative of the Board of Trustees; making the Academic All-Conference Team three of her four years, Thibodeau-Corey went on to graduate, earning the Criminal Justice Award and Top Female Student Athlete Award. As a player, Thibodeau-Corey earned Freshman Women's Student Athlete of the Year and New England Collegiate Conference 1st Team in 2018.

After graduating from Mitchell College, Thibodeau-Corey went on to get her Graduate Degree at Keystone College, while serving as the Graduate Assistant for the Softball Team. In her two years with Keystone, Thibodeau-Corey took on many different roles as a Graduate Assistant, including performing roles as the Head Softball Coach for the 2022 spring season as the Interim Head Coach.

Quote from Kaitlin, "I want to thank Dan Kane and the UMPI Athletic Department for giving me the opportunity to coach and lead the softball program.  I can't wait to get started and continue to grow the program's success and establish a positive culture that will not only build successful athletes on the field, but great people off the field as well. Go Owls!"

Thibodeau-Corey is from Peabody, Massachusetts and will begin her head coaching duties with the Owls on August 1st.
