The University of Illinois Springfield Athletics Department announced on Monday that Zoe Summa has been named the new Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. Summa comes to UIS after a year as the Compliance Graduate Assistant at Wingate University (NCAA DII, South Atlantic Conference).

"I am excited to come to UIS," said Summa. "As a former student athlete, I understand the unique challenges each student faces on a daily basis. I want, and expect, to be a resource that they look for guidance from, and in return, they provide diligence necessary to make UIS the best it can be both academically and athletically."

Summa monitored recruiting activities for all sports at Wingate and assisted in the administration of the NLI program and rules education for coaches, staff, and student athletes. Prior to her time at Wingate, Summa worked in the compliance office at NCAA DI Sacred Heart University. There, she developed mental health awareness programs for student-athletes.

The Ellicott City, Md. native was a member of the field hockey team at Sacred Heart University from 2018-21 before competing for Wingate as a graduate student in 2022.

A 2022 graduate of Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Sports Management, Summa is in the midst of completing her Master of Arts in Athletic Administration and Compliance.
