POMONA - Pamela Donnelly has been promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director and permanent Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) for her alma mater, it was announced by Cal Poly Pomona Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Brian Swanson on Monday.

"Pam has demonstrated excellence in athletic administration in several key areas - budget management, event and facility coordination, and our conference and NCAA landscape," remarked Swanson, who led the effort to select Donnelly for this new role following a nationwide search.

"She has a tremendous affinity for Cal Poly Pomona as a former Bronco student-athlete, and has outstanding relationships with multiple campus and external partners. Pam will be instrumental in continuing to move Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics forward. Her commitment to student-athlete success and supporting our coaches and staff is second to none. We are glad Pam is staying on Team Broncos."

"I am excited to be selected as the new Senior Associate Athletic Director for the Broncos," added Donnelly. "This is my home! As a Cal Poly Pomona alumna, I am thrilled to work at an institution that greatly impacted me as a student-athlete, and continues to shape and encourage our current student body.

"Thank you to Brian Swanson and the hiring committee for trusting me with the responsibility to lead our department and help prepare our student-athletes for what's ahead."

Donnelly has served the Cal Poly Pomona Department of Intercollegiate Athletics as the Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations since October of 2019. Her focus has been coordinating the department's business operations, including forecasting, budget management, purchasing, accounts payable, travel, inventory of goods, ticketing and camps, among other components and duties.

Donnelly was also the Acting SWA for much of the 2022-23 academic year after the departure of long-time department stalwart Stephanie Duke in early November. Duke accepted another upper administration position at former California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rival and currently-reclassifying Division I member UC San Diego.

Donnelly (née Fortner) was a standout track and field student-athlete for Cal Poly Pomona primarily as a sprinter and hurdler, while earning her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with an emphasis in retail marketing. She later completed a Master of Arts in Sport and Fitness Management from the University of San Francisco.

Donnelly has been back at her alma mater professionally for eight years since 2015-16, returning as the interim Athletics Business Coordinator as well as an assistant track and field coach. She was later the Operations Assistant for the Broncos prior to her promotion to Assistant AD. For five seasons leading up to her return to campus, Donnelly was the assistant track and field coach at South Hills High School in West Covina, working with the hurdlers.

Donnelly and her husband, Eric, himself a Cal Poly Pomona alum, have been married for 32 years. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Ally and Gabby, who both also have professional careers in sports.
