LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell Athletics "Drive for Five" reached a new milestone during the 2022-23 fiscal year, as a dedicated group of alumni, parents, and friends helped the Bison Club eclipse the $3 million mark in donations for the first time.

The fundraising arm for Bucknell's 27 varsity athletics teams along with a robust recreation services program, the Bison Club received a record $3,415,370 in donations over the last year. Of that total, $3,150,316 was earmarked for varsity programs.

A total of 3,747 unique donors supported the Bison Club in 2022-23, 111 more than the previous year. As part of the momentous year, four programs – women's golf, water polo, softball, and cheerleading – set new fundraising records, and 15 programs saw an increase in dollars raised and/or number of donors.

This year's landmark fundraising total was fueled by another record-setting One Herd One Day giving challenge in March. Thanks to the generosity of 3,381 donors – nearly 450 more than the previous high – a record $1.3 million was raised in just over 24 hours.

Drive for Five"Bison Nation continues to raise the bar when it comes to supporting our student-athletes and our mission to provide a transformational scholar-athlete experience," said director of athletics & recreation Jermaine Truax. "Every dollar raised is impactful, and I can't thank our devoted group of alumni, parents, and friends enough for their annual support. I would also like to thank our dedicated Bison Club team, our colleagues in University Advancement, and all of our coaches and staff who play a significant role in our fundraising efforts."

"When we launched our Drive for Five campaign one year ago, we set an aggressive goal of reaching 5,000 donors and $5 million in annual support by 2027. To surpass the $3 million milestone in year one is a great momentum-builder," said senior associate director of athletics Joel Moersch. "I am beyond thankful for everyone who demonstrates their unwavering pride in the Orange & Blue by investing in our amazing student-athletes, who are building foundations for their lifelong success."

In addition to the ongoing success of the Bison Club annual fund, Bucknell Athletics over the past year also received important capital gifts to allow for additions and enhancements to its already highly regarded facilities cache. Most notable are the second and third phases of the Pascucci Family Athletics Complex at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The new FieldTurf practice field came online last August, and construction is currently ongoing on the Pascucci Team Center, which is slated to open in 2024.
