JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- Illinois College announced Tuesday that Dirk Doehring will lead the Track and Field team as the program's next head coach.

Doehring has been a longtime assistant coach, helping to lead the Lady Blues and Blueboys for the past eight seasons. During his time with the team, Doehring has racked up 77 All-Conference performances and 24 Midwest Conference individual event champions. Student-athletes under his guidance have set 14 school records.

"I am thrilled that Meghan and the Search Committee have entrusted me with the opportunity to continue to lead the IC track & field programs moving forward! I have seen first hand the success that is possible here at Illinois College and am very excited to build a program that the entire IC community can be proud of," said Doehring.

Doehring came to IC from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he was a volunteer assistant for two seasons. During that time, the Illini had 41 Big Ten finalists in sprints, jumps and hurdles. Members of the team won 11 Big Ten titles and went on to garner six First Team All-American honors and another five Second Team All-America accolades.

Prior to that, Doehring was the director of Track and Field and Cross Country at Millikin University for two seasons. The Big Blue had 14 CCIW champions and a pair of NCAA Division III All-Americans in that span. Doehring's early coaching career was at Millikin, Defiance College, and as a volunteer assistant at Delaware State University.

"We are excited to announce Coach Doehring as the next leader of our track & field programs. His experience in track & field and with Illinois College makes him a great fit to continue our traditions of success in the sport and continue to produce a great experience for our student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Meghan Roman.

Doehring graduated from Millikin University in 2002 and earned his master's degree from Defiance College in 2010. He has a USATF Level One Certification and a USTFCCCA Jumping Events Specialist Certification.
