Josie Skelley Named Head Field Hockey Coach

The Gordon College Athletic Department and incoming Interim Director of Athletics Brian Lane are pleased to announce Josie Skelley as the next field hockey head coach.

"We're pleased to welcome Josie to the Gordon Family, as she rounds out our staff perfectly," said Lane. "Josie's experience coaching and playing at high levels, as well as her passion to mentor student-athletes in all aspects of their lives will make her an incredible leader for our players."

A native of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Skelley took her talents to Northwestern University and the Wildcats Field Hockey program. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Skelley found time to began her coaching career as a youth coach for the Future's & Windy City Field Hockey Program from 2006-2010. Upon graduation from the University, Skelley returned to her home state to assume the role of assistant coach at Plymouth State University where the Panthers would go on to win the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship in her first season.

Then, in 2011, Skelley took the opportunity to work and learn from field hockey great, Marisa Didio, as a part of the HockeyMates program. Skelley traveled and coached nationally competitive teams, and hosted individual sessions with elite collegiate players. Skelley later returned to the Division III level as an assistant for the nationally ranked Colby College Mules in 2019. The Mules ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation, and also had the privilege of coaching an All-American during her tenure.

"I am honored that Brian has entrusted me with the Gordon field hockey program," said Skelley. "I look forward to serving the student-athletes and the Gordon College community as a whole. I hope to foster an environment within the GCFH program that promotes excellence on and off the field."

Josie and her husband Tad currently reside on the North Shore with their two daughters Madden and Colbie.
