BOSTON – America East Commissioner Brad Walker announced today the promotion of longtime conference staff member Kate Bergstrom to Executive Associate Commissioner.
 
“Kate has long been a valuable member of our conference staff and is well deserving of this promotion,” said Walker. “Her work ethic, leadership skills and dedication to serving our membership elevates our staff and the conference as a whole.”
 
Bergstrom will start her ninth year at the conference in 2023-24. She previously served as Senior Associate Commissioner and was the conference’s Interim Commissioner in August-September, 2021. Her responsibilities include oversight of the conference's finances and budget, human resources and general business operations.
 
She also leads many of the conference's leadership initiatives, including #SpreadRespect, health and safety and mental health. She also is the primary liaison to several key groups including the SWA Committee, Health & Safety and Student-Athlete Engagement Committees. Bergstrom also serves as the conference's primary administrative contact and championship director for select sports.
 
“I am incredibly honored to assume the role of Executive Associate Commissioner and want to express my gratitude to Brad for his trust in my passion and leadership,” said Bergstrom. “The past eight years at America East have been such a challenging and rewarding ride, and I am genuinely excited about what the future holds for this league.
