DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis Athletics is proud to announce the release of IGNITE, an innovative strategic plan designed to propel the department to new heights and achievement.
IGNITE embodies the commitment of UC Davis Athletics to deliver unparalleled experiences for student-athletes, while fostering their academic and athletic success. This plan outlines the Aggies' focus and determination to not only compete and emerge as champions, but to bolster the University's national prominence. At its core, IGNITE champions the student-athlete-centric ethos that has always been a hallmark of UC Davis.
Developed in collaboration with a dedicated steering committee, IGNITE embodies the collective efforts of the UC Davis community, including students, coaches, staff, faculty, alumni, donors, and local residents. Chaired by Joseph Castagnola '97 and Dr. Heather Hunter '96, the committee worked tirelessly over the past six months to shape the plan. The strategic pillars of IGNITE encompass the following five areas:
- Student-Athlete Development and Welfare
- Competitive Excellence
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Assess and Value Personnel
- Revenue Generation
"IGNITE is not just a plan; it's our "North Star" as we navigate a journey towards excellence," said Rocko DeLuca, Director of UC Davis Athletics. "It's an honor to share this strategic vision with our community – a blueprint that emphasizes our commitment to empowering our student-athletes and elevating UC Davis Athletics on the national stage."
Aligned with the University's overarching strategic plan, "To Boldly Go," IGNITE underscores UC Davis Athletics' pivotal role in advancing the university's ambitions. This plan serves as a dynamic framework to steer our department through the evolving landscape of intercollegiate athletics.
In conjunction with IGNITE, UC Davis Athletics is excited to launch "Fueling our Future," a fundraising campaign that will amplify resources for Aggie Athletics' important journey ahead.
