MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville Director of Athletics, Matt Grawrock, announced the promotion of Andrea Cofrin as head coach of the women's lacrosse program for the 2023-24 season.

"I am extremely humble for the opportunity to lead the Morrisville lacrosse program as we enter a new era and a new conference," Cofrin said.

"I would like to thank the entire athletic department for all the support over the last year as the interim. A special thank you to Matt Grawrock, Todd Kleinhans, and Brandy Thurston for their guidance and giving me the opportunity to get back into coaching and doing what I love while having a balance and raising a family."

Cofrin served as the interim coach for the 2023 season, guiding the Mustangs to an overall 8-9 season slate, while posting a 4-1 record within United East play across the year.

In her efforts on the Mustang sidelines, Morrisville appeared in the United East Championship tournament finals, after her squad ranked second overall in the league in scoring and points per game.

Alongside offensive stats, Morrisville ranked second overall in draw controls, caused turnovers and ground balls per game across the year, while ranking 45th overall in draw controls per game in all of Division III, and 51st in caused turnovers per game.

"Andrea did a fantastic job this past season as she stepped into an interim position for the season and guided the program to a strong finish in the conference," Grawrock said.

"Her passion for the game was readily apparent in how our team played, and I know that the players all individually improved under her guidance.

"To have a coach of her caliber involved in our program was a tremendous asset, and throughout the season it became obvious that she loves Morrisville, and she was the perfect person to move the program forward.

"She has matched her passion for lacrosse by contributing in many ways to our department.

"As good a coach as she is, she is a better person, and we are so fortunate that she is leading our program into our first year in the NAC, and hopefully onto a regional stage where the program to be a force to be reckoned with."
