Softball unveils new scoreboard

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith softball program is excited to unveil a new scoreboard at the Avenging Angel softball complex.

Head coach Kim Scavone has been with the Angels since 2010 and has been named USA South coach of the year twice. She could not be more excited about where her program's facilities are headed.

"We could not be more excited about our new scoreboard," Scavone said. "It is a much needed upgrade to our facility and will greatly improve the game day experience for student-athletes and fans. The scoreboard is the first of many exciting projects planned for our facility this year and we are so grateful for the donor funds that made them possible."

On Friday, September 8th, a groundbreaking event will take place on a new athletic complex that will include athletic training space for softball, tennis, and golf, along with a student-athlete lounge, batting cages, locker room, office space and bathrooms.

Chris Speight Brown, '76, gave a $1 million lead gift that will name the Estes-Speight Family Athletic Complex in memory of her mother Mary Estes Speight, '53, and her father Bobby Speight.

The Angels finished the 2023 season 22-19 overall and 11-7 in the USA South. Lillie Davis earned Rookie Pitcher of the Year while the Angels added five total athletes on the USA South All-Conference list.
