Nicholas-Tolsma Named Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach

BUFFALO – D'Youville University and the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Ona Halladay, announced the promotion of Angela Nicholas-Tolsma as the Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach for the upcoming 2023 season.

"We're lucky that Angela was willing to jump onboard to take over our women's soccer program," Halladay said. "She has head coaching experience at the collegiate level and is a former Division I women's soccer player. We know the program is in good hands with her."

"Originally, I came onboard as an assistant but when I was asked, I was very excited to step into a head coaching role as it is something I am very familiar with," said Nicholas-Tolsma. "I am looking forward to the opportunity to lead the team in the upcoming season."

Nicholas-Tolsma was brought on to the staff in July of 2023 before being elevated to the head coaching role.

Prior to D'Youville, Nicholas-Tolsma was the head women's soccer coach at Medaille University from 2018-22. While with the Mavs, Nicholas-Tolsma held a head coaching record of 14-49-5. Nicholas-Tolsma guided Medaille to a six-win season during the 2019 campaign, their best win total since the 2014 season.

Prior to Medaille, Nicholas-Tolsma was the head coach of the Tonawanda High School girls' soccer team for four seasons with a record of 49-18-1. With Nicholas-Tolsma's guidance, the Warriors made post season all four seasons including a trip to the Section VI Finals in 2015.

As a player, Nicholas-Tolsma was a five-year starter at the University at Buffalo. During the 2012 season, Nicholas-Tolsma helped led the Bulls to the MAC Tournament as the team's defensive center midfielder.

At the conclusion of the 2023 season, D'Youville University will put forth a national search for the team's head coach.
