Bologa Chosen to Lead Red Devils Track & Field Programs

CARLISLE, Pa. - Dickinson Director of Athletics Joel Quattrone has announced the addition of Eric Bologa to the Red Devils athletics family as the full-time men's and women's indoor/outdoor track & field head coach.

While at the helm of the Royals program he steered them to their highest finishes and most points scored at the Landmark Conference Championships leading the women to a second-place finish on 149.5 points, while the men posted 67 points to improve on their previous best of 39. In addition to guiding Scranton the team their best results, Bologa was tasked with recruiting student-athletes to the school by utilizing campus tours, overnight visits and virtual/in-person communications. He also was in charge of managing, hiring and scheduling four part-time and volunteer assistant coaches, while also helping to manage fundraising efforts for the program.

Bologa is no stranger to the Red and White as he served as an assistant coach with Dickinson from 2018 until his departure in 2021. While with the Devils he was tasked with working with a variety of disciplines including sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, throwers, and multi-events. During his initial stint in Carlisle, DC produced a pair of Centennial Conference Rookies of the Year, 28 All-Conference performers and three All-Region athletes.

Bologa shared his thoughts on returning to the Devils "I am thrilled to return to Dickinson College as the track & field head coach. I would like to thank Athletic Director Joel Quattrone and the entire search committee for granting me this opportunity and I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish in the future."

Before joining the Devils in 2018, Bologa's first foray into the coaching field came in 2016 when he joined the staff at Frostburg State University where he assisted in the coaching of sprints, hurdles, relays, distance and jumping events. With the Bobcats he worked with five eventual Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Athlete of the Year selections as well as six CAC individual champions.

Bologa entered the coaching field after a solid career at Division II Shippensburg University out of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference where he was chosen as the 2015 PSAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. He also earned recognition on the national stage earning three NCAA Division II All-American honors in the 400m hurdles (2x) and the outdoor 4x400m relay. Bologa received his Bachelor's of Arts in Sociology with a minor in communication/journalism from Shippensburg in 2015, before graduating from Frostburg State two years later with a Master's of Education in Counseling.
