Franklin Springs, GA – The Athletic Department is pleased to announce the approval by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees to add Beach Volleyball, expanding our current volleyball opportunities and beginning in Fall 2023. Beach Volleyball is an NCAA emerging sport and rapidly growing across the country.  
 
Thanks to a generous contribution from a donor, Emmanuel will have the opportunity to add Beach Volleyball. The donation will cover the entire cost of building a top-quality beach court area with four total courts. 
 
Collegiate Beach Volleyball is different in some ways compared to Olympic Beach Volleyball. Collegiate level beach is played as a best of five pairs. Meaning each team will present five pairs who will play a best of 3-set match. The first two sets will be to 21 and the final set, if needed, will be to 15. The Collegiate Beach Volleyball uniform will also mirror that of the indoor uniform. Beach Volleyball is a Spring sport and will comprise of 6 to 7 competition dates. Currently, the Small College Championship is offered by AVCA for Beach Volleyball.
 
Coach Gordon, current Assistant Volleyball Coach, will make the transition from the men's team to the Head Beach Volleyball Coach at the end of the Spring 2023 Men's Season. He will continue to serve as the Women's Indoor Assistant as well.
