Meaghan Smith Hiring

Meaghan Smith Named Assistant AD, Set To Take Over Women's Lacrosse Program

Riverdale, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's athletic department announced the hiring of Meaghan Smith on Thursday afternoon. Smith will take over for Erin Collins as the head coach of the women's lacrosse program and will also serve as an assistant athletic director within the department.

"I am excited to announce Meaghan as our head women's lacrosse coach," stated Athletic Director Phil Stern. "Her experience as a head coach coupled with her recruiting ties will help our program continue to grow. Meaghan is aligned with our values and will enhance our student athletes experience."

Smith joins the CMSV community as a leader with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the sport of women's lacrosse and will take over a Dolphins program that reached the Skyline Conference playoffs for the first time in eight years.

"I would like to thank Athletic Director Phil Stern and the search committee, for giving me this opportunity to continue to grow in my career," said Smith. "From the moment I stepped on campus I knew CMSV was something I wanted to be a part of."

Smith most recently served as the head coach for the Lake Erie College Storm, a position she held starting in 2019. Smith immediately propelled the Storm to success, earning a spot in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference semifinals after earning four conference wins in seven tries. Prior to her stop at Lake Erie, Smith acted as Division-II Queens College's head coach from 2016-2019, where she compiled 18 wins in four seasons. During her span at both stops, Smith saw over 40 student-athletes earn All-Conference and academic honors in postseason awards.

Smith began her collegiate coaching journey with the Maine Maritime Academy from 2014 to 2016, where she also held the role of Adjunct Instructor of Physical Education. She then went on to become the assistant coach for both the women's lacrosse and women's soccer teams over at Norwich University between the months of February and November of 2016.

Smith's coaching resume goes beyond the college level. Smith was named the head coach of the Ohio Premier Lacrosse Club in 2022 and held the same position with Lightning Club Lacrosse and the Liberty Lacrosse Club in years past. From 2010 through 2014, Smith worked various clinics for both women's lacrosse and women's soccer.

Smith spent her playing days at Division-II Dowling College, where she played defense and earned All-ECC honors in three straight seasons (2012-14) while helping lead the Golden Lions to three ECC championships in her career. Smith took her talents to the international level, serving as a member of the championship winning Team USA in the 2013 Berlin Open.

Smith, a Wantagh, New York native, earned her B.S. in Physical Education from Dowling College and a Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University.

"The team had a successful season last year, having reached the conference tournament. I am eager to build off of last year's success and see how far this group can go," Smith continued. "My goal is to build a winning, hardworking, family environment that encourages positive relationships, a passion for the sport of lacrosse, and a commitment on the field and in the classroom."
