Troy Athletics Director Brent Jones Named to NCAA Women's Basketball Oversight Committee

 
TROY, Ala. – Troy Athletics Director Brent Jones has been appointed to a four-year term as a member of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Oversight Committee beginning this fall.
 
"I am honored to be recommended and selected for the prestigious and important NCAA Women's Basketball Division I Oversight Committee," Jones said. "I look forward to working with the committee members comprised of tremendous coaches, conference officials and administrators who will work to further the objectives and goals for NCAA women's basketball. This appointment is a testament to the great work our university administration, student-athletes, coaches and staff are performing for Troy Athletics."
 
Comprised of representatives from each divisional subgroup, the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Oversight Committee is responsible for ensuring that appropriate oversight of women's basketball is maintained while enhancing the development and public perception of the sport and for making recommendations related to regular season and postseason competition, including items such as playing rules and championship administration.
 
The committee also prioritizes the enhancement of the student-athlete educational experience from both an academic and athletic perspective, and in doing so, promotes student-athletes' personal growth and leadership development. 

In addition, Jones currently serves as the vice chair of the Sun Belt Conference Athletics Directors, chair of the Sun Belt Conference's Baseball and Softball strategic planning committee, sits on the 
NCAA Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct and previously was the co-chair of the Sun Belt Conference's Marketing, Communications and Branding Committee and served as a member of the Sun Belt's Name, Image and Likeness Committee.
