CSI ATHLETICS NAMES MEREDITH MOORE NEW ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FOR FACILITIES

8/8/2023 10:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - It was officially announced early last month that CSI Athletics has named Meredith Moore the new Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities.  Moore, who began her appointment on July 1st, will be in charge of the daily operation of the College of Staten Island's indoor and outdoor athletic facilities.  She will also be responsible for organizing maintenance, repair, improvements to and renovations of the Sports & Recreation Center and other athletic areas.  These include Dolphins Soccer Park, The CSI Baseball and Softball Complex, the all-new Track & Field area, the new Throws area, and The Tank in building 1R.

"Meredith has a bright future in this business," said CSI Director of Athletics Chase Licata. "She brings a tireless work ethic and an innate understanding of college athletics. She will be crucial to the success of our student-athletes and coaches. We are excited to have her on staff because she brings a great deal of versatility going back to her time as a student-athlete at Rutgers-Newark."

Moore arrives at CSI from Rutgers University - Newark where she spent four years as a member of the Scarlet Raiders Women's Volleyball program.  In three seasons of competition, Moore ended her career with 227 sets played in 72 matches tallying 153 kills and 92 digs.  However, her time with the program was not yet finished at the conclusion of her playing career.  Following her graduation with a degree in History, Moore remained a part of the program serving as a graduate assistant coach for two seasons in 2022 and 2023.
Despite her departure from her role as an assistant coach, Moore will soon start the second year of her graduate program at the Rutgers-Newark School of Public Affairs and Administration. She is set to graduate in May of next year with her master's degree in Public Administration.

"My experience as a student-athlete and graduate assistant at Rutgers-Newark gives me a unique outlook on collegiate sports," said Moore. "I hope to improve the student-athlete experience at CSI by maintaining a facility they are proud of and by enhancing the game day experience, not only for our student-athletes, but for the entire student body and neighboring community here at CSI."

During her first several weeks at CSI, Moore has spent time becoming familiar with CSI's various athletic facilities and has begun presiding over the department's building supervisors and building support staff.   Throughout the upcoming season of intercollegiate athletic competition, Moore will also delegate some gameday responsibilities to this staff and maintain a presence at CSI's home contests.  While at Rutgers-Newark, gameday operations is an area Moore became familiar with as she worked Scarlet Raiders home games alongside former CSI Assistant Sports Information Director and current Rutgers-Newark Director of Athletic Communications Tom Krychkowski.  In addition to her work for the Scarlet Raiders, Moore also spent time as an intern for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association.

Having spent just over a month in her new role, Moore has had the opportunity to become accustomed to the campus community and observe the enthusiasm surrounding CSI Athletics as the program gets set to begin the 2023-2024 season.  "Within my first few weeks at CSI, I've seen that the athletic program here has a lot of meaningful and highly anticipated engagement from the community and student body," Moore said.  "With my experience from Rutgers University - Newark and interning for Nets, I feel prepared to elevate the gameday experience here at CSI. I am excited to introduce new things and work with the coaches and administration to continue to enhance our Athletics program and facility."

Moore, along with the rest of CSI Athletics, continues to prepare for the start of the 2023-2024 season which gets underway in just over three weeks.  Men's Soccer will open the preseason schedule on August 23rd before the regular season kicks off with a Men's and Women's Soccer doubleheader on August 31st.
