Jason Pompey Hired as the Associate AD for Compliance

Brings 12 years of experience in intercollegiate administration

LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree University Director of Athletics Anthony Francis is pleased to announce the hiring of Jason Pompey as the new Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to join the Athletics Department at McKendree University as the Associate AD for Compliance," said Pompey. "I want to thank Anthony Francis for giving me this opportunity and I can't wait to work with the talented Bearcat student-athletes."

Pompey brings a wealth of experience in all levels of college athletics to the Bearcat athletic department. Previously, he was the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Academic Services at Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi. Pompey was he contact for all compliance and academic staff, while educating the coaching staff and student-athletes on NCAA rules.

Before his time in Mississippi, he was the Director of Athletics Compliance at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida for three years. While there, he guided the institution in its transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II. He coordinated with their Admissions team, Financial Aid, Faculty Athletic Representative and NCAA Eligibility Center to keep the school on track during the transition.

While at Mississippi Valley State, Pompey handled compliance and Public Relations. While making the transition from Public Relations to compliance, he was able to help guide his staff and student-athletes in making the best decisions, while making sure they stay eligible.

"I'm excited to welcome Jason Pompey as our new Associate AD for Compliance.  We are very fortunate to bring in someone of Jason's caliber," said Francis. "He's been around college athletics at all levels so I'm really looking forward to the new ideas he'll bring in to make us better.  I was immediately attracted to his philosophy of prioritizing the student-athlete experience and assisting programs to ensure they operate at a high level.  That aligns with who we want to be as a department."

Prior to working in compliance, Pompey spent eight years in sports information, most of it at the division one level, including Virginia State University, North Carolina A&T and Coppin State University.

He graduated with his Master of Science in Sports Management in 2010 from Virginia State University.
