Woodrum Tabbed Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Eckerd College Director of Athletics Tom Ryan '87 has announced David Woodrum as the head men's and women's golf coach.

"We are thrilled to have David join the Triton Family. David impressed us throughout the search process with his passion and energy as a young professional. His track record of success at the collegiate level as both a player and coach, paired with the unique recruiting niche he has established, make him an excellent fit for Eckerd," stated Ryan. "I am looking forward to watching our golf programs excel in the coming years."

Woodrum joins the Tritons after spending the 2022-23 season at Davis and Elkins College (WV) in the same role. He was named the Golf Coaches Association of America Atlantic Region Coach of the Year after leading the men's team to the NCAA National Championships in May, where the team placed 16th. He guided the men's team to the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship Title and the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championship Title. The women's team finished third at the MEC Championships, their best finish in program history. They also won the Wally Edgell Championship. He also produced a GCAA Honorable Mention All-American on the men's squad and eight All-MEC honorees (four men and four women).

"I am excited for this opportunity at Eckerd College to continue to grow and develop the men's and women's golf teams," stated Woodrum. "I want to thank Tom Ryan, Billy Evers, and Sue McDermott for all their assistance during the hiring process. I would also like to thank President Annarelli and the entire administration for giving me this opportunity."

Prior to his time at Davis and Elkins, he held the position of head men's and women's golf coach at his alma mater Bluefield State (WV). Woodrum served as the head men's coach since 2017, guiding the program to a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship Title in 2021 and a third-place finish at the USCAA Championships in 2019. He served as the women's head coach since 2020 when he launched the program.

An accomplished player, Woodrum produced a highly successful career as a student-athlete, leading the Big Blue to a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship and second-team All-American honors in 2017.

He earned his Bachelor's degree in Management from Bluefield State in 2017.
