River Forest, Ill. - Dominican University athletics has named Doug Burchett the new men's volleyball head coach effective immediately.

Burchett joined DU in 2015 and has served as the assistant coach for 9 seasons. He has served as the interim head coach before and had been a key to the success of the program. Burchett was named the AVCA Regional Coach of the Year for the 2021-22 season. He was also apart of the 2022-23 NACC Coaching Staff of the Year.

"I am honored and could not be more excited for the opportunity to lead the Dominican Men's Volleyball program," Burchett said. "I would like to express my gratitude to President Temple, Vice President Balcazar, and Vice President Price for trusting me to lead this storied program.  I have been fortunate to be part of this program the last nine seasons as an Assistant and Interim Head Coach and help build a strong foundation of excellence on and off the court. Dominican has always had a rich men's volleyball tradition filled with amazing alumni, and I look forward to building on our past as we embark on a new chapter. I can't wait to get started."

Dominican men's volleyball made it all the way to the NACC Championship match last season with a young team. The Stars are hoping to get back to NCAA tournament form under Burchett heading into the 2023-24 season.
