Mike Massone Named Track & Field Head Coach

On Wednesday (August 9), the Albright athletics department announced the hiring of Michael Massone to lead the men’s and women’s outdoor and indoor track & field teams.

READING, PA. -  On Wednesday afternoon, Mike Massone was named the new head coach of the Albright men's & women's track and field teams by co direcotrs of athletics Janice Luck and Rick Ferry. Massone will serve as the head coach for both the men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field teams. Massone will take over for former head coach Deenen Ebling who held the same position for 20 years at Albright.

Massone comes to Albright with a wealth of coaching experience in track and field at the collegiate level for 15 years. Massone has spent time in all divisions of collegiate athletics with stops at Saint Peters University, Fordham University and New York University.

I am extremely pleased to become a part of the athletic department and the track & field program at Albright College." Said Massone. "I am most appreciative of the confidence that Rick Ferry has shown in me, and I look forward to hit the ground running and begin preparations for the upcoming season. I was very impressed with the administrative staff, the facilities, and the enthusiasm within the department. The track & field staff will strive to bring the team to success on the track as well as in the classroom, and provide our student-athletes with a positive experience during their tenure."

Massone was the head coach for 10 years at Saint Peters and was a 6x time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year recipient at the University. Massone was named Coach of the Year during the men's indoor 2010 season, the women's 2011 and 2012 indoor and outdoor seasons in addition to the 2013 indoor women's season. Under his leadership, both the indoor and outdoor women's teams won MAAC Championships in 2011 and 2012.  Massone's impact on the track and field programs did not go unnoticed as Massone was inducted into the Saint Peters Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.

In addition, Massone was the field events coach at Fordham University for three seasons before his last stop prior to Albright at New York University where Massone coached vertical and horizontal jump events for both the men's and women's programs.

Massone is a graduate of Saint Francis College where he received his Bachelor's degree of science in Physical Education. Massone would later go on to earn his Masters degrees in Arts in Athletic Administration and Arts in Education Administration.
