BC Announces Rebranding of Devlin Student-Athlete Formation and Success

Since 2010, the Devlin family has been champions for student-athlete success, enabling them to develop in all facets of their collegiate experience at Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College Athletics is proud to announce the rebranding and re-launch of Devlin Student-Athlete Formation and Success.

Since 2010, the Devlin family has been dedicated to providing platforms for student-athlete success at Boston College, enabling them to develop in all facets of their collegiate experience at the Heights.  Devlin Student-Athlete Formation and Success will continue to center on the holistic growth of the student-athlete with specific focus on "Four Pillars:" personal development, career readiness, community engagement, and empowering their voice.

"At Boston College, we seek to fulfill our Jesuit, Catholic mission of faith and service as we develop men and women for others," said William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Blake James.  "The commitment to that mission also serves as a blueprint for Devlin Student-Athlete Formation and Success. As our student-athletes develop throughout their careers at BC, they will continue to seek solutions as researchers, educators, caregivers, and leaders in our local community, across the country, and throughout the world."

The mission of Boston College is to lead students on a holistic journey of intellectual, personal, ethical, and religious formation.  Building from that mission, Boston College Athletics is committed to providing our student-athletes with a world-class experience, fostering the values of integrity, service, excellence, and innovation.

Devlin Student-Athlete Formation and Success will be housed in the Yawkey Athletics Center and will be led by assistant athletics director Kenny Francis.  Under his leadership, Francis and his staff will be instrumental in developing vitally important programming curriculum, including transitioning to life as a Boston College Student-Athlete, Career Readiness, Community Engagement, Personal Development, Student Formation and Leadership Development.

Francis has been a key member of BC's Student-Athlete Academic Services, managing the development and implementation of strategic academic advising programs.  He also serves as an advisor for the Black Male Initiative (BMI) and Eagles 4 Equality, facilitating the DEI programming for the athletics department.  A 2013 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Francis served as the community service chairperson in the Association of Diversity in Sport.  He earned his masters degree in sports leadership from Northeastern in 2019 and is working toward a graduate certificate in Student-Athlete Development from Boston College.

Along with the Devlin Student-Athlete Formation and Success staff, the program's network of support will also include collaborations with faculty, alumni, campus partners, and local community members.
