NCU Announces Hiring of Lydia Carr as New Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations

Minneapolis, MN. -- North Central University (NCU) has announced the addition of Lydia Carr as its new Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations. Carr will have primary oversight of NCAA and athletic compliance, athletics scheduling, and academic success management for all student-athletes. She will also remain an assistant coach with the track and cross country teams.

From 2021 until now, Lydia has been an athletic communications graduate assistant, where she has worked countless NCU game days, managed student employees, and made a positive impact on the marketing and promotion of Rams Athletics. She has also served as an assistant coach for the Men's and Women's Cross Country and Men's and Women's Track and Field teams.

Prior to joining the Rams staff in 2021, Carr attended and graduated from Concordia University, St. Paul (CSP), where she competed in Cross Country and Track & Field from 2016-2020. During her time as an athlete, she was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team, given the Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award, was part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and was named a captain of the track and field team.

On the academic side, Lydia was named Sports Management Student of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year for her hard work in the classroom and athletics department. She graduated from CSP with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management.

A native of Elk River, Minnesota, Lydia is a 2016 graduate of Elk River High School where she competed in cross country, Nordic skiing, and track and field.

NCU Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach Paul Theorin had this to say about Carr, "Lydia has been an assistant cross country and track & field coach for the past two seasons. I've never met someone with a more positive attitude and someone who finds the positives out of anything. She does a great job relating with our athletes and she consistently introduces fresh and innovative ideas to our coaching team. With her extensive college athletic background of four years as an athlete and two years as a GA, Lydia brings a wealth of valuable experience to the table. Her dedication to Cultivating Christ-Centered Champions makes her the ideal addition to our department. I am eagerly looking forward to witnessing the positive impact she will undoubtedly bring to our student athletes and coaching staff."

Carr states, "North Central has been extremely welcoming as I step into this new position as Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations on campus! I'm eager to continue my work with the incredible student-athletes and coaches who make this school feel like home. It's a true blessing to be a part of such a vibrant and tight knit community, which makes NCU so special. Go Rams!"

Carr is recently married and currently resides in Elk River with her husband Cory and cat Cleo. She began her new role on July 6th.
