BELTON, Texas— The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) is excited to announce that a UMHB golf alum made a leadership gift to name the new golf practice facility the Jane and Mac Hickerson Crusader Golf Club. The complex, which includes a four-hole practice course and a clubhouse and locker room, will be named after Mac Hickerson, former UMHB men's golf coach, and his late wife Jane. In addition, the practice course will be officially called "The Mac" Golf Practice Course.
Mac Hickerson led the UMHB men's golf team from 1980 to 1999, making him the longest-running golf coach in UMHB history. He made a significant impression on his players and left a meaningful legacy at Mary Hardin-Baylor. He's known as a positive, humble, and encouraging coach.
"We're overwhelmed so many generous donors have come alongside us in this endeavor to provide our student-athletes with this outstanding golf facility," said Randy Mann, vice president for athletics. "Naming the facility in honor of Coach Hickerson and his late wife, Jane, makes it even more special. We are so proud the Hickerson name will always be associated with UMHB golf."
The complex's clubhouse and locker room will be named the Conner Golf Performance Center, in honor of university friends Mary Kay and Jerry Conner of Sugar Land.
The golf performance center is designed by one of the world's most widely-acclaimed sports architects, Earl Santee of Populous. The four-hole practice course is designed by legendary golfer and world-renowned golf course architect Ben Crenshaw. This new facility is currently under construction and is located on UMHB's campus, west of Nolan Creek.
