Boothe resigns as @yorkcardinals head men’s soccer coach

Courtney Boothe has served York College since 2018 and most recently led the program as head coach since 2021

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College announced the resignation of head men's soccer coach Courtney Boothe, effective immediately.  The Cardinals are moving forward with a search for their next head men's soccer coach.

Boothe began his York tenure with the men's soccer program in 2018 as an assistant coach before being promoted to head coach in 2021.  Since 2018, Boothe has contributed to five CUNYAC All-Stars, including a pair of first-team selections and a trio of second-team honorees.

"I want to thank Courtney for his professionalism and hard work and am sorry to see him go, particularly so close to the upcoming season. However we will work diligently to ensure our soccer SAs get a strong leader for our program prior to the start of preseason." - said Interim Director of Athletics Zak Ivkovic

York produced three Sportsmanship Team nods during Boothe's time at York.  The 4-0 CUNYAC triumph at home to Medgar Evers College in October 2022 was the high point of Boothe's time at York. He leaves with a two-year record of 4-19-2.  In his first season at York in 2018, Boothe contributed to a squad that claimed their first CUNYAC win since 2014, as the Cardinals pipped league champion John Jay College to capture a 2-1 win. In his two seasons as head coach, Boothe led the Cardinals to five victories, collecting CUNYAC triumphs against rivals Hunter College and Medgar Evers College.

Accredited by United Soccer Coaches, Boothe holds various diplomas including Premier, Goalkeeping Level 2, and Director of Coaching.  Boothe got his start in collegiate coaching at  Division III Polytechnic University, where he served as head men's soccer coach from 2003-06.

Boothe leaves a core of CUNYAC All-Stars in Ahmed Algendy (2021), Kervin Mondesir (2021), Marvin Mondesir (2019) and Stanley Sanchez (2022), along with 2022 CUNYAC Sportsmanship Team selection Alex Conde.
