Alumnus Dr. Adam Woroniecki gifts the first Marauders Football Endowed Scholarship

BISMARCK, ND – After a stellar collegiate career on the gridiron, former University of Mary team captain and All-Conference performer Adam Woroniecki is now making an impact off the field for the Marauders that will be felt throughout the future of UMary football.

Through the generosity of Adam and his wife Allison, the Woroniecki's have started the first endowed football scholarship in the 34-year history of the program. Dr. Woroniecki hopes that all Marauders athletic programs will continue to grow in support.

"I was very blessed to have life pull me through the community of the University of Mary," said Woroniecki. "Looking back, I see how blessed I am. My hope, and my wife's hope, is that this is a way to foster a good experience in other student-athletes' lives."

"The University of Mary and Marauders Athletics is very grateful for the Woroniecki's generosity," said Cooper Jones, UMary executive director of intercollegiate athletics. "Adam and Allison's belief in the scholar-athlete experience was evident during our discussions, and their belief in the value of a UMary degree was heartfelt.

"In hearing about the positive experiences from his undergraduate days, Adam believes deeply in our 'Greatness through Virtue' strategic initiative. His incredible commitment, the first of its kind for our football program, will make a significant impact on our program and sets a very high bar for future investments in Marauders Athletics.

"We are so appreciative of Adam and Allison's investment in our scholar-athletes, and for the example they are setting for others who want to make the experience even better for the next generation. Our best days are ahead of us, and the commitment from the Woroniecki's is yet another example of that fact."

The Hebron, ND, native, came to the University of Mary in the fall of 2011 to play football and became a team captain and an All-Northern Sun running back his senior year in 2015. The three-time NSIC All-Academic Team recipient later graduated from dental school at the University of Iowa.

Woroniecki works as a pediatric dentist with Prairie Rose Family Dentists in Mandan. "I enjoy being a positive role model in the lives of children and hope to set them on a lifetime path of excellent oral health care," said Woroniecki.

When Adam isn't practicing dentistry, he and his wife enjoy most outdoor activities, including hiking and kayaking. The couple has a one-year-old son named Wesley. Additionally, Adam's brother Ryan is a current member of the Marauders football team.
