Randolph College Announces Two More Athletic Teams

Randolph College announced the addition of its 21th and 22nd varsity athletics teams on Friday. Women's and men's wrestling will join the WildCats lineup for the 2024-25 academic year.

"Wrestling is one of the fastest-growing high school participation sports in the country for women, and men's wrestling has made a resurgence in colleges across the NCAA in all divisions," said Tom Galbraith, director of athletics. "We believe these two sports will enhance our athletics department and institution. This is an exciting time to be a WildCat, and we cannot wait to welcome these two new programs into our family."

The addition of women's and men's wrestling continues the growth trend for Randolph athletics, bringing the total number of varsity athletics programs to 22. Women's STUNT and men's volleyball, which were announced in January, will also begin competition in the 2024-25 academic year.

Randolph is finalizing plans to use nearby off-campus facilities for the wrestling teams. A national search for two head coaches will commence immediately. Women's and men's wrestling will compete in the NCAA Division III, with men's wrestling already being sponsored by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).
