TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League is expanding its men's and women's squash membership with the addition of two associate members. Haverford College and Mount Holyoke College are joining the conference in the sport of squash beginning in the 2023-24 academic year, as announced by the league office.

The league welcomes the Haverford men's and women's programs as well as the Mount Holyoke women's squash team. The Fords become the Liberty League's seventh team in men's squash and there will also be seven teams on the women's side with the addition of the Fords and Lyons.

"The Liberty League is excited to partner with Haverford College and Mount Holyoke College to provide an enhanced championship experience for our squash student-athletes," said Liberty League Commissioner Tracy King. "Haverford and Mount Holyoke share the league's commitment to the Division III philosophy of placing the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience for our student-athletes."

"Growing our squash membership has been a priority for our institutions that sponsor squash," King added. "With the addition of Denison University last year and Haverford and Mount Holyoke for the upcoming season, we have strengthened our squash membership and our commitment to providing a high-quality championship experience."

"The Haverford men's and women's squash teams are thrilled to now be a part of the Liberty League," said Haverford head coach Niki Clement. "Joining this strong group of programs, that carry both a history of excellence and current competitiveness, will challenge us in new ways as we continue to elevate our program."

"Mount Holyoke is thrilled to be joining the Liberty League this season as it will provide our student-athletes with a highly competitive conference championship experience," said Mount Holyoke head coach Erin Robson. "We have enjoyed competing against Liberty League teams over the years. The conference championship format will add greater structure, intensity, and excitement to our February schedule."

"This move, with initial discussions going back to 2019, represents effort, support, and advocacy from Mount Holyoke for our student-athletes on the squash team," Robson continued.  "Thank you to Tracy King, the squash coaches of the Liberty League, and especially to our administration at Mount Holyoke."

The Liberty League squash membership is comprised of five full conference members—Bard College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, St. Lawrence University, Vassar College, and the University of Rochester (men) as well as associate member Denison University (men and women). The Big Red joined the Liberty League during the 2022-23 academic year and participated in their first league championship this past February.

The 2024 championship will take place at St. Lawrence's Robie Squash Center in Canton, N.Y., February 9-11.
