BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The NSIC Board of Directors approved a pilot program to move select NSIC Championships to a Pay-Per-View model for the 2023-24 academic year. Championships moving to a pay-per-view model will include the NSIC Volleyball, Softball and Baseball Tournaments and the NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championship.

“As the NSIC continues to monitor and review the trends and opportunities with webcasting, both locally and nationally, the conference is taking a strategic approach to pilot select NSIC Championships on a pay-per view webcasting model for the 2023-24academic year.  League leadership understands there is value in the experience provided via the NSIC Network. Revenue generated will be put back into NSIC Championship to further enhance the championship experience for NSIC student-athletes,” said NSIC Commissioner Erin Lind.

The pilot program will see the volleyball tournament semifinals and championship move behind a paywall (quarterfinals matches will still be available for free), along with the entire indoor men’s and women’s track & field championships. All games of the softball and baseball tournaments will move to pay-per-view as well.

The NSIC Men’s & Women’s Basketball Tournament rights were purchased by Midco Sports and will air exclusively on Midco Sports Plus.  All other regular season and championships across the 18 NSIC sports will remain free-to-view.

Fans will have the option of purchasing access to individual contests or to an all-access pass for each championship.

Viewers can access the broadcasts via NSICNetwork.com, the NSIC Network iOS or Android mobile app, as well as any of the OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV. For anyone needing technical assistance throughout the event, they can send an email to support@blueframetech.com. Hudl is the Official Video Streaming Partner of the NSIC.

About the NSIC

The NSIC is a model Division II conference that uses high-level athletics competition to develop champions in the classroom and community while empowering student-athletes to be impactful and positive leaders. Formed in 1992 by the merger of the Northern Intercollegiate Conference (men’s league) and the Northern Sun Conference (women’s league), the NSIC has flourished over the past quarter century, maturing into a union of Upper Midwest colleges and universities. The NSIC has won 25 team national championships and crowned 110 individual national champions. For additional information, visit NorthernSun.org.

About NCAA Division II
The NCAA, the national governing body for college athletics, is a volunteer association of more than 1,000 colleges and universities that classify their athletics programs in one of three membership divisions. The 300+ institutions in NCAA Division II support a balanced approach in which student-athletes can earn scholarships based on their athletic ability, pursue their desired academic degree, and participate in all the campus and surrounding community have to offer. Division II student-athletes annually graduate at rates higher than their student body peers, and they have access to the best championships-participant ratio among the NCAA’s three divisions. Division II gives student-athletes the unique opportunity to compete in the classroom, on the field, in their career, for their causes, and on their terms.
