ACU Unveils Five-year Strategic Plan

ABILENE – After nearly a full year of developing its goals and methods of achieving them, Abilene Christian University athletics reveals its Strategic Plan for the next five years.

[Check out the detailed strategies here]

ACU Athletics' desire is for every student-athlete to accomplish three things during their ACU experience – to grow in their faith, to reach their potential in the classroom
and to compete for a championship. The strategic plan not only encompasses that student-athlete goal but speaks to the needs of coaches, athletics staff and university staff.

The Athletics strategic plan complements the University Strategic Plan and includes its goals for ACU Athletics.

The Athletics plan centers around five pillars: on-field success; student-athlete and staff experience; gender equity Title IX and diversity; revenue generation and fiscal responsibility; and brand and fan development.

"We have a very ambitious vision for our athletic department and I believe it's important to share it with all our stakeholders who can help make this vision a reality," said ACU Vice President for Athletics Zack Lassiter. "This plan will drive our decision-making daily as we focus on the five pillars identified during a collaborative process by our student-athletes, coaches, staff and University partners."

On Field Success
"Our vision is to achieve regular and postseason competitive success in all sports."

ACU Athletics expects to be competitive on all levels. The three objectives are to compete for NCAA postseason and conference championships; implement program investments and increase coach and support staff investments.

Student-Athlete and Staff Experience
"Our vision is to enhance the holistic experience of student-athletes and staff.

Objectives within the student-athlete and staff experience pillar are achieving top-three status annually in the WAC in academic progress rate and graduation success rate; a cumulative 3.20 GPA per academic year; implementing a baseline nutritional supplementation program; establishing a comprehensive health services plan; delivering an extensive student-athlete development program; and provide growth opportunities for staff members.

Gender Equity, Title IX and Diversity
"Our vision is to embody a culture of diversity and inclusion that appreciates and celebrates our differences, creates access and advancement opportunities for all, and invites diverse voices into substantive conversations."

Under gender equity, Title IX and diversity, ACU's goals are to provide comprehensive support to ensure all student-athletes have the opportunity to compete for conference championships; and increase staff diversity and cultural awareness to better serve its student-athlete population.

Revenue Generation and Fiscal Responsibility
"Our vision is to strengthen the financial position of ACU Athletics to reach our
competitive and holistic development goals."

The vision for revenue generation and fiscal responsibility is to provide the financial capability for ACU's big goals. Revenue generation and fiscal responsibility goals include growing philanthropic support; increasing revenue through corporate sponsorships and proactive ticket sales; and developing a sustainable budget model to promote financial stability.

Brand and Fan Development
"Our vision is to create consistent storytelling that encompasses a prodigious range of media and conveys the mission of ACU Athletics."

Brand and fan development goals are to develop a coherent voice with a communication plan that reached audiences at a wide spectrum of plains; enhance fan experience across all venues; and collaborate with campus partners on student engagement.

Staff members within ACU Athletics will monitor the department's progress throughout the next five years.
