Voigt Named Elizabethtown College Head Field Hockey Coach

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.— Elizabethtown College Athletics announced the hiring of Lauren Voigt as the new Head Field Hockey Coach.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with and support Lauren Voigt as she becomes our Head Field Hockey Coach, Elizabethtown College Director of Athletic, Chris Morgan said.  "We've been fortunate to have Lauren serve the past 10 years as an assistant coach, and I am confident that she will be an excellent leader and role model for our field hockey student-athletes."

Voigt becomes the 12th Head Field Hockey Coach in Etown program history after recently completing her 10th season as an assistant coach.

The Blue Jays have amassed a 98-75 overall record and appeared in three conference championship games during Voigt's tenure. In 2016, Etown captured its first Landmark Conference championship and qualified for the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship tournament, hosting Kenyon in the First-Round.

Voigt played collegiately at Messiah College from 2007-10, setting career-highs in goals (five), assists (two) and points (12) as a sophomore.

"It has been an honor to coach at Elizabethtown over the past 10 years," Voigt said. "I am so happy that I get to continue to work with this team. We have a great program, and this new chapter will honor that legacy. Hopefully we can continue to grow and develop the program and take it to the next level. I am excited to get started."

The State College, Pa. native was a member of Messiah teams that won Commonwealth Conference championships in each of her four seasons. Messiah finished as the national runner-up in 2009 and 2010.

Voigt earned her bachelor's degree in health and exercise science from Messiah in 2011.

"It's a great day to be a Jay!"
