Mick Eaton named head coach of the bowling programs at Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Mick Eaton will take over the reins of the bowling programs at Davenport University replacing his late father Mike who passed away in March 2023. Eaton is certainly no stranger to the program having served as an assistant coach for the Panthers since 2019. He has worked with both men's and women's programs on development, in particular the physical aspect in recent years.

"I am excited to get started and I intend to follow in my father's footsteps of coaching by demonstrating his philosophies of hard work, dedication, and passion towards the program and the sport of bowling."

Eaton also serves as managerial accountant at Spectrum Entertainment Complex in Wyoming, Michigan and has held that role since 2021. He is a graduate of Davenport University in April 2023 received his master's degree in accountancy with managerial emphasis. He graduated with distinction from DU with a 4.0 GPA during his master's courses.

"I am very excited to name Mick as the next head coach of our bowling program," said Ryan McCosky, Director of Non-Varsity Sports and Programming. "It was evident last year when he took on more responsibility and the program didn't skip a beat having one of the more successful seasons to date. I am confident when I say Mick is one of the brighter young coaches in the area and we are happy to have him here at DU."

During his collegiate career he spent time at three different institutions. He spent one season at Wichita State bowling for one of the top programs in the nation. After that, he bowled for two seasons at Lindenwood University and the program achieved a national championship in 2014. He finished his career at DU for one final season and was the team captain.
