Washburn athletics announces two new staff additions

TOPEKA, Kan. — Two Washburn alumni are returning to the University in administrative roles as Erika (Lane) Yoder and Zach Gable have been named to the Ichabod athletic department staff. Yoder will be the Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations and Fan Experience and Gable will move from a marketing associate to the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Management.

Yoder returns to Washburn in the fall of 2023 after spending the the last year as the training and development specialist at Mammoth Sports Construction.

Yoder spent three seasons as a member of the Ichabod coaching staff joining the Ichabod basketball program after spending one season as a teacher in the Topeka Seaman school district. Yoder spent the 2017-18 season as a student assistant coach after spending three seasons playing for head coach Ron McHenry. 

During her playing career, Yoder started 69 of 79 games for Washburn and averaged 29.8 minutes a game. The Topeka native shot 40.3 percent from the field and 33.7 percent from the 3-point distance and averaged 9.2 points a game.

She finished as the program's all-time leader in free throw percentage (.840) while earning top 25 spots all-time in assists per game (13th, 2.8), 3-point percentage (18th), total assists (23rd, 225) and defensive rebounds per game (24th, 2.9). Yoder is a two-time All-MIAA selection, was a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and was named team MVP following the 2016-17 season.

Yoder and husband Luke, a former Ichabod football player, live in Topeka with their daughter, Maye. She has two fur babies, Brooks and Bella.

Gable moves into the facilities position after spending two years as a member of the athletic's marketing department where he also worked as a gameday assistant. 
 
Gable earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Washburn in 2021 and completed his master's of arts degree in communication and leadership from Washburn in 2023.
 
During his time at Washburn, Gable was a two-year member of the Washburn cheer squad and also served as an intern for the Washburn Athletic Department during the 2020-21 school year. Gable is originally from Abilene, Kan. and now resides in Topeka, Kan.
