BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Kai Dugquem joined the LIU men's volleyball staff as an assistant before its inagurual season in 2022.
 
Now, as the 2023 season looms, Dugquem was promoted to head coach of the program.
 
"I'm grateful for this opportunity to lead LIU men's volleyball," Dugquem said. "I am excited for this new chapter of my career and look forward to building this young program in its pursuit of athletic excellence. A special thanks to Bill Martinov for entrusting me to build and grow the culture and success of these young student athletes."
 
Dugquem has previous experience in the coaching ranks at New Jersey City and Utah Valley.
 
He played libero on The Ohio State University men's club team from 2012 through '15 before his professional career began in the National Volleyball Association for the Utah Stingers.
 
"I am excited for the future and growth of these student athletes as we compete for a national championship and put LIU men's volleyball on the map as an east coast power."
 
The Sharks open their 2023 season on Jan. 10 at Belmont Abbey.
