Daniel Milton Named Head Women's Soccer Coach

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier University Athletics Department announced this morning that Daniel Milton will take on the role of Head Women's Soccer Coach. 

"I am excited to bring Coach Milton to Nashua," said Director of Athletics Jonathan Harper, "During the interview process, Daniel quickly established his passion for the game and the culture necessary to promote student-athlete satisfaction and improvement. His prior experience at Franklin Pierce as a coach and at Southern New Hampshire as a captain of the men's soccer team gives Daniel a unique skill set that established him as a clear fit for Rivier," he continued, "The future is bright for Rivier women's soccer, and I am thrilled to have Coach Milton on board," Harper concluded.  

Milton joins the Raiders coaching staff after serving as the number one Assistant Coach at Franklin Peirce University. This past season he helped the Ravens finish the year with an impressive 16-4-3 record, going 10-2 in NE-10 play. Pierce made it to the NCAA Tournament, where they played four games, beating SNHU (3-1), #6 Saint Rose (2-1), and tying with Bridgeport (2-2). Their run ended in the Quarterfinals against #2 West Chester in double overtime 2-1. Milton helped cultivate two All-Americans and four All-East Region student-athletes, along with United Soccer Coaches East Region Coaching Staff of the Year.    

Milton completed his collegiate playing career with Southern New Hampshire University. While at SNHU, Milton maintained a 0.86 goals-against average while racking up 121 saves and a 24-6-5 overall record. He also served as a captain for the program in his final two seasons. Prior to his collegiate career, Milton was a goalkeeper at Blackpool Football Club. He made three appearances for the first team in the English Football League Championship. During this time, he was an active member of the Canadian National U17 squad that qualified for the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup. 

Milton is still the Director of Coaching at Hampshire United Soccer Club and currently oversees all-female teams. 

Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Milton received his undergraduate degree in 2019 at Southern New Hampshire University. In 2021, Milton completed his graduate degree in Sport Management at Franklin Pierce University.

"It's an honor and a privilege to join the Rivier Women's Soccer Program. I've already had a chance to meet with the players, and I can't express how excited I am to get started," said Milton, "In just a matter of days, I have grown an appreciation for the students, faculty, and campus. Go Raiders!" he concluded. 

The Rivier women's soccer program will open up play in 2023 at Fitchburg State on September 1st. The first home contest is slated for September 12th against Norwich University at 7:30 pm.
