T-Harris XC/TF Head Coach

General Brackin Lambert

Savannah native, Harris, to lead USCB XC/TF as new head coach

BLUFFTON — After a long and extensive search, USCB Director of Athletics, Quin Monahan announced the hiring of Terica Harris as the next head coach for the cross country and track and field program. Harris becomes the fourth official head coach in the program's history.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Harris to the Sand Shark Family. Since our first conversation, her positivity and full-of-life personality were evident," Monahan said. "I'm so excited to see our Cross Country and Track and Field programs grow and flourish under her strong leadership.  Without a doubt, our program is headed in a great direction and our student-athletes are going to excel under Coach Harris' guidance and energy. It's a great day to be a Sand Shark!"

Harris is no stranger to the Lowcountry as she is originally from just down the road in the Coastal Empire, graduating from Sol C. Johnson High School in Savannah. Following graduation she went on to compete for Marquette's Track and Field team where her focus was Sprints and Jumps.

"First, I would like to say thank you to Dr. Al Panu, Quin Monahan, Genia Montford, and the search committee for entrusting me to fulfill the duties assigned to me as USCB's Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach," said Harris.

Coach Harris' name can be found multiple times throughout the Golden Eagles record book as she holds three top-five spots in the 60, long jump and the triple jump in the indoor records along with outdoor records in the long jump, triple jump and 100 meter sprint. She is a seven-time Big East Champion and was twice named to the Big East All-Conference team.

Harris graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor's in Biological Sciences from Maquette and just completed her Master's in Kinesiology at Southeastern where she was a graduate assistant with the Track and Field program. While serving as the GA for the Fire she guided both the Men and Women's Indoor Track and Field team to a Sun Conference and helped the Men's team capture the 2023 NAIA Indoor National Championship.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to lead a program at a University where student athletic experience and excellence is a priority. I am honored and prepared to work along side our amazing coaches and work with our athletes. I immediately felt like family when I first arrived on campus and I am ecstatic to officially be a part of the Sand Shark family!"
