Brie Campbell Transitions to Executive Role as Senior Woman Administrator

Campbell, who joined the Warriors in 2016, steps away from her role as Assistant AD of Communications to focus on executive-level leadership within the department

ROCKLIN, Calif. – As Jessup University prepares to take its next step into NCAA Division II, Brie Campbell will be taking her next step with the university as well with the growth of the Senior Woman Administrator role. Campbell will step away from her title of Assistant Athletic Director of Communications, while shifting her focus to executive-level leadership.

"I want to thank Vice President of Athletics Lance Von Vogt and President John Jackson for this opportunity to serve the Jessup community in such an impactful way," said Campbell. "It truly has been a blessing to serve the student-athletes the past seven years in many facets, and I look forward to continuing to serve in a larger capacity."

The move, as announced first internally by Von Vogt, was centered around growing the SWA position into a higher-ranking role as the university moves into NCAA Division II. As SWA, Campbell will have a voice in the governance of all things Jessup Athletics on an executive level.

Von Vogt spoke highly of Campbell, noting, "I am grateful for all of Brie's work over the past six years as a Sports Information Director and then an Assistant Athletic Director of Communications. Brie's eye for detail, graphics, and communication execution has strengthened our brand immensely."

"This move will allow Brie to move into more of an executive leadership role with the opportunity to speak into the entirety of our Athletic Department governance."

On top of her role as SWA, Campbell will still lead the Jessup Softball program as she enters year five as the team's head coach. The Warriors have been very successful under Campbell, reaching the GSAC Tournament each of the past two seasons while finishing one win shy of a trip to the NAIA Softball World Series in 2022.

The 2022 Warriors won a program-record 39 games, including the GSAC regular season and tournament championships, resulting in Campbell earning GSAC Coach of the Year honors.

During her tenure leading the Jessup communications team, Campbell took home first prize in the NAIA-SIDA Publications and Media Contest three times. She also earned a first-place finish in the CoSIDA Publications & Digital Design Contest.

Campbell will still oversee the Jessup Athletics brand in her new role.

With the shift in her duties, Sports Information Director Matthew Horrocks will continue in Campbell's footsteps as he now takes the lead of Jessup's communications department.

On her time overseeing Jessup's communications team, Campbell added, "I have loved my time in communications, growing our viewership and brand on many platforms, and I can't wait to see the department continue to grow and evolve as we move forward to the NCAA under the new leadership of Matthew Horrocks. There is no better person to lead than one of our own that is the biggest Warrior fan I know."

The title of Senior Woman Administrator is one of high regard amongst NCAA institutions. As SWA, Campbell will assist, amongst many things, in the oversight of university budgeting, scholarships, student-athlete experience, Title IX, athletics personnel, and sports administration. Campbell is the Sports Administrator for cross country, track & field, and women's soccer.

"Serving the department in this executive role is something I could only dream of," added Campbell. "Many have come before me nationally as the SWA position has become a pinnacle role in collegiate athletics, and for that, I am grateful for their leadership and honored to be chosen to do just that for Jessup. I look forward to serving the department, athletes, and University with this role in a way that will grow us competitively in every asset for success, athletically, academically, and spiritually as we build leaders for the future."

Campbell has been an integral part of the success of Jessup Athletics since joining the university in 2016. Jessup University is excited to see her continue to grow and lead Jessup through its new phase as an NCAA institution.
