ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst University and Director of Athletics Glen Brittich have announced the hiring of Sloane Baumgartner as the fourth head coach in the history of the Elmhurst University women's lacrosse program.

"Coach Baumgartner has an extreme passion for the sport of lacrosse, the Division III student-athlete experience, and the CCIW. As we started to get to know coach, her energy, passion, and excitement were very evident," Brittich said. "We are very excited to have her join the team and look forward to the extremely bright future of the Elmhurst women's lacrosse program."

"It is with great enthusiasm and gratitude that I begin as the next head women's lacrosse coach at Elmhurst University. I would like to extend my appreciation to Glen Brittich and the search committee for this tremendous opportunity," Baumgartner said. "The dedication that the coaches, student-athletes, and administrators have for the educational and athletic experience at Elmhurst was evident from the moment I stepped on campus. I look forward to building a collaborative, inclusive, and competitive environment at Elmhurst. Go Bluejays!"

Baumgartner comes to Elmhurst after serving as a graduate assistant women's lacrosse coach at North Central College from August 2020-May 2022. At North Central, Baumgartner helped coach a trio of Cardinals to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honors and lead the team's fundraising efforts, while also monitoring student-athlete academic progress.

She has also served as head coach for Team One Lacrosse Club since June 2020, helping coach and mentor young players in the game of lacrosse.

A four-year letterwinner in women's lacrosse at Ohio Wesleyan University from 2016-20, Baumgartner started in 54 career games, garnering 159 goals, 57 assists, and 216 total points in her career. Her 159 goals ranks first in program history, and 216 total points ranks her third on the all-time list at Ohio Wesleyan, leading the team in goals and points in each of her four seasons with the Battling Bishops.

Baumgartner earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference honorable mention honors in her freshman and junior seasons, and tied the school record for points (11) in a game vs. Westminster on Feb. 29, 2020.

A native of Naperville, Ill., Baumgartner earned business administration (marketing) and sports management degrees from Ohio Wesleyan in May 2020, and a Master's degree in organizational leadership from North Central College in May 2022.
